Our Story

Built From the Ground Up

J Crawford LLC was founded by John Crawford, a construction professional who spent years in the field before ever putting his name on a truck. That field time — on slabs, in frames, through Texas summers — is what separates our approach from contractors who run projects from a desk.

We're based in North San Antonio, right at the edge of the Hill Country, and that geography matters to us. We build on caliche and limestone karst, in heat that warps materials and storms that test every joint. We spec for this environment because we live in it.

Today, J Crawford LLC serves homeowners, commercial property owners, and developers throughout Bexar County and surrounding communities. Every project, regardless of size, gets the same level of direct oversight and structural care.

Our reputation is built job by job. We'd rather finish thirty projects flawlessly than rush through sixty. Work done right doesn't need to be redone — and it doesn't need a warranty asterisk.

John Crawford came up through the trades — concrete and framing before he ever managed a full project. That path left him with an instinct for what a site actually needs, separate from what drawings show and what owners expect. When those three things don't align, he says so early.

His approach to contracting is methodical: read the site conditions before scheduling, confirm material lead times before committing to timelines, and never start rough-in until the foundation is right. These aren't policies — they're lessons from projects where someone skipped those steps.

John founded J Crawford LLC to build the kind of company he would hire: one that communicates directly, prices honestly, and produces work that holds up when the next contractor opens the wall decades later. San Antonio and the Hill Country are his home territory, and he takes on projects where that local knowledge matters.
